We are an online newspaper run by homeschoolers from the San Francisco Bay Area. We were founded in 2020 by eight homeschooled teens who were part of the Tri-Valley Explorers homeschooling group. We began as a class through which we could learn about the rules and aspects of journalism, taught by the mother of our first editor-in-chief. After a month of gaining knowledge of the field of journalism, we formed our youth-run newspaper. It was during our first year that we established our website.
Our monthly publications often consist of informative articles, stories and poetry of various genres, and art contributed by our staff or welcomed guest authors.
Though almost all of our original staff have since graduated, we remain The Lighthouse – a Beacon for the Tri-Valley Area.
